Portland Oregon is located in Northwestern Oregon, where the Columbia and Willamette rivers meet. The metropolitan area is made up of several suburban cities all within 15 miles of downtown Portland. As the original commerce center of Oregon, Portland is the largest city in the state and home to a diverse population, culture, recreation, and history. There is always something to do in Portland, from Rose Festival in June, to Skiing in the winter. Geographically there are four counties: Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington in Oregon; and Clark County in Washington, all part of the “greater metropolitan area”. We are sometimes known as the Willamette Valley because we have the Coast Range to the West and the Cascade Range to the East. The population of the metro area is 1.9 million, the largest metropolitan area in Oregon.

Summer averages around 80 degrees, Fall around 50 degrees, Winter around 40 degrees and Spring around 60 degrees. Snow is rare on the valley floor but we do get below freezing 7-10 days per year. Yes, we do have rain, hence all the beauty you expect from Oregon. No, it does not rain all the time. A more accurate statement would be to say the sun doesn’t shine all the time. We have our share of cloudy dry days that may feel like rain to those who are accustomed to sunshine year round. Camping, fishing, hiking, river rafting, biking, snow skiing, wind surfing, and rock climbing. Portland has 9,400 acres of parks, including the smallest park in the world (Mill Ends Park) and the largest urban wilderness (Forest Park). A lifestyle that appreciates the beauty and respects the land.
